FAQ

  • Does my child need to know how to swim?
Your child should feel comfortable in the deep end of the pool and be able to find their way safely back to the side of the pool after jumping into the water.
  • Is there a minimum or maximum age?
There are no age limits. For all age groups that are comfortable with swimming in the deep end of the pool, we have 2 programs available - Learn to Dive and Adult Learn to Dive.
  • Do I have to stay while my child is in class?
You do not have to be present during the class as long as we have up to date contact information for you in case your child has to leave early. We ask that if you do stay, please remain seated in a designated area.
  • Can my child be placed in a class with kids of the same age?
We make every effort to keep kids of ther same age together however, kids are placed in classes based on skill level. Each child will progress at their own pace. When their skill level advances, they may be invited to join the pre-competitive/competitive groups.
  • Is it OK for family members to sit next to the pool to watch the class?
While it is OK to watch the class from the bleachers on poolside, we do ask that family members remain out of the instruction area and do not try to get your child's attention as this may pose a danger to the kids and the coaches. It is also against pool policy. There are also viewing areas on the upper balcony.
  • How will I know what my child has learned?
Your child will receive a report card at the end of the term from their coach. You can also email edgedivingclub@live.ca with any questions.
  • Is diving cancelled during bad weather?
Diving class will go ahead as long as the Aquarena is opened. Monitor public announcements from Aquarena and The Works for closures.
  • Can I get a refund because my child does not like to go?
Our policy says that you can have a full refund up until the second class of the session. Refunds are not given after the second class. However, medical certificates will be assessed on a case by case basis.
